5 Stars I can finally watch the whole game on big screen!
What a great TV and with the no-glare screen I can finally watch Sunday afternoon football (GO STEELERS) on my big screen TV come rain or come shine. Because I have many windows in my family room, if we have a sunny afternoon, I have to go upstairs and watch the game in my bedroom. If I am having folks in to watch the game, I have to pray for a cloudly day, LOL. I bought this set to replace a 50-inch plasma that died after only 3 yr (and 6 wk after the extended warranty expired, sigh…). I am almost happy (minus the replacement $$) that the old TV died because this one is fantastic. A beautiful picture, just incredibly beautiful, bright and clear. Sound is so-so, but decent. I can’t recommend this Samsung highly enough to anyone who is looking to buy a flat panel. My delivery experience with Pilot was good, too. In fact, even though I got a call saying it would be delivered on Monday, someone called on Sat. and brought it over that afternoon. I can hardly tear myself away from the darned thing to do the laundry!!!

5 Stars Stop Looking, You’ve found the perfect TV
Your most likely searching, as i did, for the perfect TV. Confused by all the different makes and models (plasma, LCD, True LCD), baffled by all the different numbers (1080p, 60Hz, 120Hz), and sick of reading endless reviews.

Well, you can stop now! This is the perfect TV.

I researched this topic for three months, visited every web-site, every store and read EVERY review. Changed my mind about six times, then finally took the plunge and went for the Samsung, 52-inch with the red “touch of color”. When it arrived, i was shocked at the perfect picture (i changed from a panasonic plasma – which was great, but the difference in picture quality is night and day). I had the TV mounted on the wall, the guy who came to mount it said it was the best picture quality he had seen outside of the “top of the range sharp aquos” TV’s.

I have it mounted by the window, there is no glare. The sound is good, i live in an apartment, so i can’t really say if the reviews that say the sound needs to be improved are true or not. Set up is easy, you can even connect it to the internet and it will give you the weather every morning. If you own a PS3 or X-box, you want this TV…Call of Duty 4 should only be played on this size and quality TV. And…everyone loves it, it has become the talk of my whole building.

The delivery was quick (two days) and the company were a pleasure to deal with (although i live in a doorman building, so my delivery was easy).

In conclusion, do your homework, make sure that you really want a TV this size, then buy this one, you will not be disappointed…. happy viewing.

5 Stars Excellent Buy
TV has amazing quality picture. Excellent price on amazon.com $1389 that came with free blu-ray. And very happy with the quick ship and delivery. Ordered it on a Sunday night and got it on Thursday.

5 Stars Very nice LCD TV
I bought the LCD tv from here. It is wonderful TV. All family members like it very much. Delivery person is nice also. Thanks!!!

5 Stars 630 vs 650
After originally purchasing the 46″ 650 Samsung, I upgraded to the 52″ 630. After using both models after a few days this 630 is much better. While the 650 had many of the features I wanted DLNA, Youtube, widgets, etc. I found the interface slow and not well thought out. For example you could not save favorites with Youtube. DLNA was usable because once again it didn’t cache any information. So every time you connected to your computer it has to catalog your music or pictures library. This takes like 4 min with my collections.

I expected the same from the 630 but was pleasantly surprised by the info link interface. It was much quicker to get data from the internet and display it. While the features are limited the features provided work well.

I go the free blu-ray(samsung 1600) with the TV purchase. I interacts beautifully with the TV. It as comes with Youtube, Blockbuster, and Netflix. Youtube being what I really wanted out of the 650 series. It was much better designed on the blue ray, much faster, and had the ability to save personal settings.

So the combination of the 630 with the Blue Ray Samsung 1600, hands down beats the Samsung 650 from a deal and performance perspective.

As for picture quality both models have a amazing picture. Compared against the similar series Sony the picture much better.

Added note: First thing you should do with either the 630 or 650 is turn of the 120mhz True Motion. Its makes movies look like after school specials. I thought by turning this off it turned off the 120mhz, but it just turns off some software that supposedly helps with judder. All I really does is make your movies look like garbage. Barring that minor tweak this is a great TV.

5 Stars Everything I Expected
I’ve had this TV for about 4 months now and am VERY happy with my purchase. I love the matte screen, which is the main reason I chose this model over other comparable Samsung 46″ LCDs. I have HD cable, blu-ray player, Onkyo SR-507 Receiver with 5.1 surround sound, all set up with HDMI cables (purchased thru Amazon at very low prices). Since I’m using surround sound (SS), I can’t comment on the TV speakers (SS highly recommended!). I found the factory settings to produce a somewhat surreal picture so, after creating my custom settings, the picture is AMAZING [especially great for Blu-Ray, DVD (HD upconversion with blu-ray player) and HD Cable channels], which are as follows:

Backlight – 7

1 Star Samsung TVs Have A Known Defect and Awful Service
I’m a very unhappy buyer! My Samsung TV failed within months from a faulty power unit. I Googled “Samsung TV problem” and discovered Samsung TVs have a documented defect that turn them into bricks within a year or two. Samsung is aware of the defect but has left thousands of buyers in the lurch with their callous customer service.

I advise you to Google “Samsung TV problem” before wasting you money on one of these duds!

5 Stars Picture is great. Repair went smooth.
Picture is great. Very happy with the size. A problem arose a few hours into watching. A horizontal white line of pixels appeared on the screen. Fearing that I would have to box it back up and ship it back I called the number given and was relieved to hear that they were going to send a repair person to the house to fix it. A week later he came, replaced the screen and its been great since. No regrets buying it online.

5 Stars After living with it for a couple of weeks….
I like it even better now. I calibrated with DVE (Digital Video Essentials) and the picture became much more accurate in color and clarity.

5 Stars Better than what I thought…
I actually bought this TV at Best Buy on 11/28/09, but I’ve been browsing and researching TV’s on Amazon for a little over a year now. I picked it up on a whim, I knew that I would buy a Samsung for my first LCD purchase and I couldn’t say no to a $377.00 price tag ($405.00 after taxes.)

Great picture and very good sound quality. I’ve put it through its paces with my PS3. Running on HDMI initially it did some glitching and a couple disconnects but has been solid since.

Only problem I have it volume adjust, to low while watching TV and way to high with the PS3 running.

5 Stars Great TV
I, like many others, pulled the trigger on the tv when it dropped to $378 on Black Friday. I used to have the Samsung LN32A450 but had to sell it when I moved. At the new place, I was actually content with the regular non-high definition tv, but when the price drops that much, I have to purchase it, mainly because Samsung TVs = quality

Comparing the A450 to the B360… well I don’t really notice any differences really. It has one less HDMI port but other than that it is all the same to me. I use mines for playing PS3 games, watching Bloomberg and the occasional movie through the PS3.

I would reccomend this TV 110%. It is still worth it at this price definitely, but I would look to see if anyone is selling it for $378 still…

4 Stars Good pick for first grown-up TV!
I’ll be honest, I had done all my research and decided on a Sony 1080p/120Hz 37″ set. So, I went to Best Buy and was looking around at everything, from every angle and switching the channels from the demo mode they show in stores to the air channels. This one was out on the floor as an “Open Item,” so I studied it for a long time, looked at every channel, turned up the sound, and everything checked out. Plus, it was $150 below retail because it was an open item.

Since the one I really wanted was twice as much (the low end model, at least) and we’re trying to save money overall, I went for this one. I have watched DVDs, my Nintendo Wii, air channels, DTV network channels, and I am pleased! I have decided that it depends much more on the source than the TV for good picture. The HD channels show up better than the air channels.

The Best Buy near me has stacks and stacks of them as I write this, so go out andpick one up!

5 Stars Great TV for the price.
I picked this up around Black Friday ‘09 for just under $400. I had tried to purchase an LCD TV a few years ago, before finally deciding on a plasma because I couldn’t stand the motion blur of the LCDs. I bought this TV as a gift for someone, and stopped by to check out the picture quality. It was very good. I checked a few different places — sports stations, sometimes even the news ticker — to see if I could notice any motion blur, and I saw none. I wouldn’t say the picture is better than plasma, but I was very impressed for it being an LCD. I would definitely recommend this product. I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to write this one in case anyone had any of the same issues I had before buying it. It is a great TV.

5 Stars Great with a Roku!
I bought this as my first television in years to use with my Roku HD. That’s a box that hooks up to your wireless network and streams Pandora, [...], and Amazon.com Online to your TV. Go buy one, you’ll be happy.

Now I can’t always see HD by eye no matter what anyone says. But I spent hours streaming HD from Amazon.com through the Roku to this television last night, shows I’ve seen before, and it was AMAZING! After some basic configuration to tell the television that it is getting an HD stream I was in Heaven. The picture is perfect, the blacks black but not so much it takes over half the screen as I have seen in other televisions.

What can I say? Good built-in speakers, looks great, incredible price. I say go buy it now! For around $400 it’s just hard to beat!

5 Stars Great picture, easy to set up
Have had this TV for about a week and love it! It was easy to set up and the picture is great! I’d recommend it. It’s just the right size for our living room and we have plenty of HD channels on our cable service.

5 Stars Great TV!
Just bought last night! First new TV in years, last purchase was 27″ tube TV last century. Haven’t figured out all the features yet.

The assembly isn’t easy (pictures in instructions aren’t very good for where to screw into the base), but doable. Setup not too difficult, but again instructions aren’t easy for how to have the TV discover channels.

The picture is wonderful. We don’t even have high def service yet (normal analog / digital hybred from Comcast), but looks great. Almost no lines, little blur. Good speakers (store was trying to sell us expensive audio). The menu looks pretty easy to navigate so far.

5 Stars Finally pulled the trigger on this one…
Looking when it was $979… waited until it was at $799 and pulled the trigger. Amazon delivered as advertised. Easy set-up and,as expected, excellent picture.

4 Stars Compared carefully to a Panasonic plasma
I couldn’t decide between a plasma and an LCD, so I bought both (with the intention of returning one) and set them up side by side, my cable hookup going to both. The plasma was a Panasonic TC-P42S1, the LCD was a Samsung LN40B630. I did my comparison channel-by-channel with lots of different programming, ranging from talk shows to cartoons to action movies to football games, in both high def and standard def.

Both are very good 40-42 inch TVs, in my opinion. Once I had adjusted the settings to my liking, I was hard-pressed to say that one looked notably better or worse than the other, though each had its strengths and weaknesses.

The Panasonic plasma had slightly more vibrant colors than the Samsung LCD. Blacks were noticably blacker and dark blues and purples looked deeper. The off-angle viewing was fantastic on the plasma, too. With the LCD, a smidge of color was lost when you shifted from 0 to 45 degrees. From deeper side angles, the picture was still watchable, but definitely shifted towards gray.

However, the Samsung LCD had a brighter, crisper image. In a dark room, details stood out better, and any programming that wasn’t dark looked a little sharper. During the day, with the sun shining in, the LCD’s image held up a bit better, too.

Motion is supposedly better on plasmas, but I couldn’t really tell when comparing to a 120Hz LCD. Both TVs did equally well with typical television, and what blurs I saw seemed to be in the source material. I watched a football game for a while, but if the plasma gave a better viewing experience, it wasn’t terribly obvious to me. Then again, I’m not a big sports fan, so maybe my eye isn’t discerning enough. (Update: see below)

Color accuracy seemed great on both TVs, but the Panasonic needed some adjusting to get there. The picture is too green with the default settings.

Both TVs did a near-equal job with standard def programming (aside from the differences above).

Sound: adequate on both. I have a surround-sound system, so I didn’t really care.

Hardware failures: I’ve read complaints about both brands — seems like it’s a roll of the dice either way. I went with a 4 year warranty.

Other stuff: the Samsung had a better remote, a nicer menu system, and more fine adjustments available. I also like the swivel stand and the fact it’s a lot lighter than the Panasonic. I didn’t try the internet features on either TV.

Overall, both are very good TVs, and all but the most picky videophiles would be happy with either. In 2009, both plasma and LCD have come a long way and which technology is “better” really boils down to your wallet, viewing conditions, and personal preference. It was a tough choice for me, but, in the end, the bright, crisp picture of the Samsung won out. I can live with marginally less vibrant colors, weaker blacks, and imperfect off-angle viewing (if I watch from the other room, I’ll swivel the screen).

*** UPDATE ***

Turns out the Samsung has a demo mode that lets you split the screen and see one half with de-blur processing turned on and one half with it off. I did a little testing by hooking up my laptop and scrolling images and text around. Without the processing, there is a noticeable blur on high-contrast moving objects, though it wasn’t significant enough to really bother me. _WITH_ the processing, moving text was more crisp, but there seemed to be a slight delay, which I imagine would make this mode unusable for serious videogamers. People who are highly sensitive to motion blurring might prefer a plasma.

5 Stars 120Hz Anti-Blur Motion Control makes a Difference
Just purchased the LN40B630. So far the LCD is working great and has exceeded my expectations. The picture actually looks better than when I saw this model in the showroom at BB. It’s probably due to the fact that I dimmed the lights in our living room.

Absolutely great picture when viewing Bluray off my PS3. I also hooked it up to my 3 yr old OPPO upconverting DVD player. Although not as good as the bluray picture, it was much better than I had expected and a big leap over the way it looked on my old 720P LCD. I think the biggest improvement is the 120Hz anti-blur motion control. I was considering a 1080P 60Hz without motion control. I am 100% glad that I shelled out some extra money for the 120HZ with Motion Control. From what I have read, 120HZ by itself does not make much of a difference, but 120HZ combined with the mfg’s internal motion control software makes the 120HZ a worth while feature. So this is something to think about when comparing one brand 120HZ LCD to another brand 120HZ LCD. Not all 120HZ panels are equal.

BTW, my old LCD was a samsung LN-R328W purchased as a christmas present back in Dec, 2005 (4 years ago). Althought there is some miinor burn-in on a small area on this old LCD, it is still working great after 4 years. But this LN40B630 is a giant leap ahead of that old samsung in terms of picture quality (contrast and anti-blur).

In addition, my hats off to Amazon/Crutchfield for my order. I ordered it on Friday AM (black Friday after Thanksgiving), it shipped out on Saturday AM, I recieved a phone call and e-mail from Crutchfield notifying me of the shippment. The shipper called me on Monday, AM. And the LCD was delivered to my door on Tuesday AM. 4 days from the date of order to my door, including the weekend.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Impossible to get any reception
I bought this TV thinking it might replace an older analog model that could be used in the car, office, garage, outside, etc. The problem is that there is virtually no station that can actually come in on the over air antenna in this TV.

Even hooked up to a supplemental rabbit-ears-type antenna, it was a pixelated mess- going in and out. The only way I could get a picture was to hook directly to cable. Then it worked fine. The picture is not bad… just beware that unless you live across the street from the transmission tower that you will probably not be able to see a picture.

5 Stars Little TV/Monitor a good value
We work in video production and have bought several of these. We’ve found it to be an excellent value for the price. We use it primarily as a video monitor, sending composite video and stereo audio in through the RCA jacks on the side. So far, this has proven to be a reliable, compact, and easy-to-use monitor. The mini-headphone jack serves just fine, and the picture is bright, fully color-saturated, and reasonably crisp. A bit pesky to have to use the remote to switch the image between “normal” and wide-screen, which it doesn’t seem to sense automatically. And, of course, the small speakers are a bit crispy-sounding, but not bad for their limited size. Haven’t used the built-in battery much, so I can’t rate its life yet.

As a television, this model seems to pull in the local channels just fine with the included antenna. There are occasional dropouts, but I think that’s more a function of the digital TV signal. I’m still surprised to get the digital tuner plus the actual television/monitor for not that much more than the digital tuners by themselves. Controls are simple enough that I bought one for my dear mother to use, and she’s not exactly eager to deal with complicated devices.

Again, so far, we’re very satisfied and will probably buy a couple more of these.

1 Star Check ripoffreports.com before buying Haier products
I bought this product for $129.99 in Feb, 09, screen went black in July 09. It was not the cheapest 7″ TV and had decent customer reviews. But I should have checked deeper, like at [...]. Haier has awful customer service! Muliple phone calls to customer no-service and the standard reply was “sorry, it has a 90 day warranty!” So I paid $130 bucks to get 5 months use. I will never buy a Haier product again. I will spend my money with companies that stand behind their products.

Gregory W.

4 Stars Nice little set with above average picture quality
I Picked up the Digital Prism ATSC-710 from CVS for the same price here on The ‘Zon. The ATSC-710 is the exact same unit as this Haier, but with a different logo on the front and a different box. That’s it, and I couldn’t be happier.

Unlike many of the delusional “reviewers”, I fully realized I wasn’t going to get great reception with the little monopole antenna. The law of physics dictates this. You can try all the portable TVs you want and if the antenna isn’t good, you’re not going to be getting hundreds of OTA digital channels. Also keep in mind, that contrary to popular belief, ATSC digital doesn’t do as well as it’s analog grandfathers in the reception department. Whereas you could still see somewhat of a picture(albeit with tons of “fuzz”), with a weak analog signal, digital is either there or it isn’t. There’s no “gray area”

That being said, I was able to pickup about 7 OTA stations with the crappy telescoping antenna, in my house. I am about 13 miles from the nearest transmitter, so me being able to pick these up, is pretty surprising. There are times I get the digital “freeze” but for using this little antenna I’m pretty amazed. It does even better when tested in my back yard.

Picture quality is pretty good as well. Not award winning, but above average for this price range. I found someone who hooked a signal generator up to theirs and calibrated it using the following settings:

“Set Color Mode (2nd item in 4th menu) to Warm. This is the closest to D65.

Select Personal picture settings from the Menu.

Set Contrast to 25. This allows proper reproduction of all video levels to 100% without clipping or serious compression. At a setting of 30, levels above 98% are compressed, but it is still tolerable. Higher settings produce severe clipping.

Leave Brightness at the default setting of 50. It is correct and black level is stable with changing video levels.

Set Sharpness at 30. The default setting of 50 produces moderate outlining of vertical lines.

Leave Tint at the default setting of 0. It is correct.

Set Color at 30. Higher settings are incorrect, but many people like higher color levels.

These settings reduce the overall light output, but totally eliminate clipped whites, pasty faces with blown out highlights, and many other problems that will be observed in Standard, Dynamic, and Soft picture modes.”

The composite (red, white and yellow) input works great and is definitely a selling point.

Sound quality is ok and quite honestly, not super loud. But it’s more than acceptable if you’re not in a loud location. A headphone jack is present if louder audio is needed.

Battery life is around 2.5hrs, which is about normal for this level of set.

The only reasons I didn’t give this set 5 stars are definitely not deal-breaking, but worth noting, nonetheless. 1.) The remote layout is pretty silly. The volume keys are horizontal on the bottom and the channel buttons are along the left, blended in with a couple more buttons. This is typical, however for Chinese-made electronics, so I’m quite used to it. 2.) I would like to see longer battery life, but it looks as if they crammed electronics in every inch of the case, so I’m not quite sure it would be possible to cram a larger battery in.

For those that demand physics breaking performance, this is a great little set. You’d be hard pressed to find anything better for the prise (and quite possibly twice the price).

1 Star Doesn’t work in our area.
While this appears to be a good little TV, getting a signal into it is a problem. We live in a rural area and our signal is marginal. While we did fairly well with the analog signal we received, the digital signal is lacking in power. We have several larger TV sets and they do a much better job of picking up and displaying the signal we receive. This TV will not pick up any signal with the whip antenna that is supplied with the unit. It may work well in an urban setting, but here in the rural West it is a dud.

5 Stars Great TV
Excellent TV, I got it 15 days ago and it worked perfectly.

Easy to use, image and sound is excellent, the only bad thing is that it has few features to configure and does not have a sleep buttom.

Excellent buy.

5 Stars Great TV at a great price
I needed a new TV that would fit in the wall unit I already had. This was a perfect fit, and it makes the TV it replaced look sick. I had no idea that TV could be so crisp, bright, and thoroughly enjoyable. We have this and another, larger LCD-TV hooked to Dish Network sattelite TV and the picture is stunning. Sound is very good, too. Nice features are the SD card slot for photo viewing and the iPod dock. We had to call Dish Network to get the dish to work properly on this set, but it was an easy call with them doing most of the work on their end…it took 15 minutes, tops. Great value for the money.

5 Stars excellent choice
Great television– Amazon service was excellent. Received item before scheduled time.Even though this TV is only 720p the picture quality matches a bigger 1080p Samsung set that I have.

5 Stars awesome tv for the price
I got this tv on sale on black friday and it was a steal. I did a lot research and this was one of the best out there. The picture quality is great, the numbers of the channels aren’t too big on the screen and channel surfing is actually decent. (some lcd’s take forever to load the picture, so channel surfing is a no go). However, the sound sucks. The speakers are at the bottom of the tv, underneath and I can’t hear a thing! I thought, well no problem I’ll just add some computer speakers but there’s no jack for those so beware! I know others have mentioned it but I didn’t notice this when I was doing my research. Its not that big of a deal, but I have to have the tv really loud to get decent sound.

5 Stars Vera iPod iPhone ready!
Having bought the product online not having seen it in stores before, I was impressed! This is such a great deal for a tv, and even better its a Panasonic. I was impressed by the picture quality and mostly the iPod dock that the tv comes with. I own a iPhone 2g and not only can it play the music and the videos on my iPhone, it CAN play the YouTube too!

Full screen youtube, directly from my iPhone.

Some cons are:

Well, It wasnt free… I really cant see any downsides, its a great deal!

5 Stars great camera
Super camera, takes great pictures and has lots of wonderful options. Sturdy enough that you won’t drop it either and the lens zooming options are terrific.

5 Stars Exactly what I was looking for!
I wanted a wide angle point and shoot. This little camera is great. I will start by saying that I an amateur photographer. I have been looking for a wide angle point and shoot in my price point for about a year. I started noticing this Panasonic and took a shot at it. I could not be happier. Our last two cameras were Canon 3MP point and shoots.

The camera almost always shoots in ‘intelligent auto’ mode. Pros:

1. Great photos.

2. Wide angle, 25 mm lens.

3. 12x optical zoom.

4. Shoots video. I can finally zoom in or out while recording on a point and shoot.

5. Hiqh quality touch and feel. Heavy enough to really seem well built without seeming clunky.

Cons:

1. This is probably my personal issue only. The camera’s red-eye reduction does not seem to work in ‘intelligent auto’ mode. I have noticed that I have to manually select that option. Not a big deal but I don’t like to have to think about these things. Automatic should be automatic. There may be a way to set that to default that I have not discovered yet.

2. I think another reviewer pointed this out. I am disappointed that the data port is not a simple mini USB. They have some sort of proprietary connection. Now I have to keep track of that little cable for the life of the camera.

Overall, a great camera for less than $200. Now if I could just get the wife to give it back. :D

4 Stars Nice Little Camera with a Good Feature Set
I’ve been using Canon digitals for a few years and have really enjoyed their feature set, ease of use, and the fact that they used standard AA batteries. My intent was to purchase the sx120 but it was missing a few features I felt I wanted (wide angle lens, auto bracket mode) and it was bulkier. While researching I found a few cameras that met my criteria and decided on the Panasonic.

Likes

* Wide angle lens 25mm

* Auto Bracketing

* Image stabilization

* Intuitive menus

* Nice Build quality

* Can zoom while recording video which you cannot with the Canon.

* Nice size. Can actually put in your shirt pocket or pants. You cannot do this with the cannon.

* iA (intelligent Auto works well and adjust to macro, etc automatically)

Dislikes

* No flash intensity control

* Thumb wheel turns too easily.

* Prefer the button layouts of the cannons (thumb wheel and shutter buttons)to the Panasonic. I think the different layout might improve the grip.

* No manual controls. Would really like to the ability to set the shutter speed. :-( (The canon will do this)

* Would like to see more options on the thumb wheel like landscape mode, and night scene. You can do with the panasonic but you must drill into a menu. :-(

* Non-standard battery. The trade off here is that this does help make the camera smaller but is limiting when you go out to take a bunch of images with no chance to recharge. Expensive to replace battery.

While the Panasonic is missing some features of the canon (manual controls, flash intensity)it makes up for these with size, and quality. If panasonic could implement a few of the canon’s features then you would have an awesome little camera. The bottom line is that the best camera is the one you carry and use. This camera is not super small but is smaller that some of its competition making it a camera I will carry.

5 Stars I’ve purchased four of these!
Great camera. So great I bought one for each of my three kids and myself!

One of our kids took it to Alaska with him and took some great pics. Perfect for travel and a very nice camera for the money.

5 Stars Great family camera
We had tried 3 other camera’s in a cheaper price range but all had broken within a month. This camera is definately worth the extra money. We’ve had very clear photos and the zoom is great.

5 Stars Worth the money!
My daughter is 2 and I’ve already bought two different DVD players for the car that have broken or worn out. They were cheaper, but I thought it was worth it to spend the money this time. This thing looks like it’s going to last for the long haul…built well and the quality is wonderful. I like the long battery life–my old DVD player only lasted 30 minutes–not nearly long enough to entertain a toddler on a flight. We’re glad we invested in this and will be able to use it for years to come.

3 Stars Worked for 3 months, lost display
I liked this unit from Sony, but on it’s second use in 3 months of purchase the display went blank. Checked Sony warranty and they want $87 for an exchange/repair. Yeah, I don’t think so. The warranty is not up to snuff on this product.

That being said, I liked the display, the controls, the 180 degree rotating display, the sound and everything else about it. I’d recommend this unit BUT for the horrible warranty. Even for $190 list ($160 here) I think this should be a no-charge exchange.

You have been warned.

4 Stars Sony portable DVD
This little DVD player is great except that the multifunction button is difficult to use. If you aren’t extremely careful you will accidently push it in the wrong direction. It is very easy to do with fat fingers. Also, the door open button in located exactly where you would put your thumb if you pick the player up with your right hand. And when you do that it opens the door and you lose your place in the movie. Other than this I really like it.

2 Stars Disappointing for a Sony
I’ve had this unit for about 4 months now and have been pretty disappointed. For Sony, the performance and design has been disappointing. The player frequently freezes while playing a dvd, I put the dvd in another player and it plays fine. I’m not that impressed with the controls either. As they’re smooth touch controls, you can’t feel them, and they’re not illuminated, so when it’s dark, they’re very difficult to find.

4 Stars Works well
The picture is good. The sound is not bad, but it is a portable DVD. You don’t need headphones to be able to hear it in a moving car. It is relatively easy to use for adults and the kids find it easy to use as well. Definitely, get a carrying-case that can strap to a seatback or between seatbacks. It is worth the money.
